Jan Ayeslag, Texel
During a quet, early walk on the soft beach of the island of Texel, I got the idea: a high-pole carpet of a small part of the beach, including bird-tracks. Made of pure Texel sheeepwool. High-pole sand, so to speak.
I found a nice piece of beach on the Jan Ayeslag, made a photo of it, and made a pattern of that.
Renske van den Tempel of the Noordkroon on Texel could deliver the wool.
For a couple of years now, she gets this beautiful Texel product spun in a spinnery.
With this spun wool the carpet was tufted by the TextileLab in the Textilmuseum in Tilbur. Hester Onijs, tuft-expert of the museum, tufted the carpet for me.
From September 16th untill October 28th the carpet is on show in the textile exhibition 'Averechts', in the Province-house in Haarlem.
